See this NY Times story on the topic: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/21/business/drug-lawsuits-hinge-on-the-detail-of-a-label.html and http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/19/health/bills-seek-to-change-rule-on-generic-drug-label.html Tell your member of Congress and the FDA we need this changed!

I take prescriptions for hypertension and anxiety. In 2007 my meds all went generic in the same month, three weeks into the prescriptions and my blood pressure was at stroke level and I was having anxiety attacks that were non stop. My physician finally made the connection that it was the generic meds they are not effective for me, in fact I had severe side effects that were life threatening. The recovery for the reduced dosage for the anxiety medication took me several months. Just last year my insurance company Tricare-Expresscripts, forced me to take generic again and I began having the same issues, it took my physician three appeals to the insurance company to get them to write the order for brand name only. I can't help but wonder if the generic medications were tested and held to the standard of brand name would there be less victims of catastrophic health issues. Heart attack, stroke, organ transplant drugs, cancer treatment drugs??? I am passionate about seeing this brought to congress and have stricter production rules put in place and hold the pharmaceutical companies accountable for their actions. It took me almost a year to get back on track after my meds went generic. I couldn't leave my house without suffering anxiety.

Keep on Fighting the Fight! Hoping that those pharmaceutical companies making generic medications will someday put proper labels with the correct and full warnings on their product!!

I too have had the same concerns and experience with generic drugs. Generics of all type seem to vary in thier consistancy. Sudafed is one that comes to mind, and I am currently on generic Bactrim 800/160 with marking "IP/272" imprinted on pills. I have been taking this for several months and have a rash from head to toe. Small bumps which are like little pimples or insect bites. Thanks for coming forward. --sg
